How do I start a website with the sole purpose of advertising for other websites?

I am interested in making some extra income through Google AdSense and ClickBank. I know that I need to have my own website in order to profit from this, but I just need some tips on how to ';get the ball rolling.'; I would appreciate some feedback from anyone who has some know-how in this area, or anyone who has advertised through AdSense or ClickBank.
