How do i get the best out of my internship?

Im currently working as an intern at a Philadelphia-area university in their athletic department. I love my job (even though i get paid horribly), but my problem is, i dont feel as if im getting enough out of my experience. I work in the ticket office mainly, and i have put my name out there to assist in other departments, but honestly, this internship is not what i imagined it to be. How can i show the people i work with, including my boss, that i'm determined and interested. In all honestly, it is my personal goal to become a General Manager of a sports team by the time im 40. I still have 27 more years to go, but i want to get the most of this internship. Anyone have any advice or have been in the same situation? thanks for the help :)
